Berrisford Hill’s artistic career began following a five-year course at Winchester Art College and Southampton University, specialising in drawing and painting. Hill went into teaching art for twenty years. During his teaching years, he regularly exhibited his work at numerous galleries around the UK. His fourth exhibition at the CLA Game Fair was so successful he resigned from teaching to fully commit to his artistic career.
Hill decided from an early age that he would specialise in wildlife art, varying from landscapes to game birds. His study of the behaviour and habitat of pheasants and partridge increased his ability to capture their personalities and traits more intensely. Whilst spending most of his career painting in a conventional style, more recently, Hill has transitioned to capturing wildlife in a more fluid, impressionistic way.
Berrisford Hill has exhibited his work globally, including the USA, Canada, Germany and Belgium. Hill has also held one-man shows in Paris, London, Utrecht and a variety of other galleries around the United Kingdom.
