Trevor Chamberlain began his career as an architect's assistant before becoming a full-time painter. He has no formal training but taught himself by careful study of other artists' work. Chamberlain works from life and in oil uses an alla prima (wet on wet) technique. His paintings are particularly admired for their impressionistic rendering of atmosphere and light. Favoured subjects are marine and urban landscapes, often with figures.
Chamberlain is on the Council of both the Royal Society of Marine Artists and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.
