Louise Ingram Rayner is best known for her watercolours of crowded street scenes, as well as interior views of historic buildings, primarily Haddon Hall.
Having first studied painting at the age of 15, with her father, she then went on to further her craft under the tutelage of established artists such as David Roberts RA RBA, George Cattermole RWS and Frank Stone ARA.
Although Rayner’s first exhibited work was an oil painting of the interior of Haddon Chapel, which was shown at the Royal Academy in 1852, her preferred medium was watercolour, in which she exhibited through organisations including The Royal Academy, Royal Watercolour Society and the Royal Society of British Artists.
