FOXHOUNDS AND A FOX TERRIER BY A KENNEL
Wright Barker was born in Yorkshire in 1863 to a weaving supervisor. Despite being illiterate in his early life, Barker went on to become a painter, sculptor and picture dealer. Best known for his portrayals of agricultural and hunting scenes, Barker also produced landscapes, portraits and mythological scenes. During his life, Barker exhibited his work at the Royal Academy alongside other galleries and academies. In 1896, he became a member of the Royal Society of British Artists.
