A collaborative exhibition with Fine Art Commissions during Classic Art London. With their shared passion for traditional subject matter, the galleries combine specialisms to showcase the elegance and charm of a classic English hang seen today. Contemporary portraits, including Royal subjects, will feature alongside period sporting, maritime and wildlife paintings. Among the artists included are Howard Morgan (b.1949-2020), Nicky Philipps (b. 1964), Jamie Coreth (b.1989), Simon Watkins (b.1988), Sir Alfred James Munnings (1878-1959), Sir Herbert James Gunn (1893-1964), Archibald Thorburn (1860-1935), John Frederick Herring Snr. (1795-1865) and John Cleveley Snr. (c.1712-1777).
The New English Look represents an eclectic mix of art and antiques, based on large English country houses that have been assembled over many generations and fitted together in a unique style. This is especially championed by design dealers such as Robert Kime, and is key to combining a collector’s passions with more ascetic interior designs.
Thus a contemporary family portrait fits nicely alongside an 18th Century marine, emphasising warmth, character, tradition and a timeless, lived-in feel to a home.
