The Hadza or Hadzabe people are an indigenous ethnic group in north-central Tanzania, living around Lake Eyasi in the central Rift Valley and the neighbouring Serengeti Plateau. As descendants of Tanzania’s aboriginal hunter-gather population, the Hadzabe people have probably occupied their current territory for thousands of years, with relatively little modification to their basic way of life until the past hundred years.

Hadzabe men usually forage individually bringing home honey, fruit or wild game when available. The women forage in larger groups, accompanied by at least one adult male, and usually bring home berries, baobab fruit and tubers.
